An underrated British spy thriller has returned to the small screen for its fourth season - and it's already received rave reviews.
The first episode of the new season has landed on Apple TV+ today (Friday September 6) and fans have taken to X to share their excitement.
Based on the legendary Slough House novels by author Mick Herron, the dark comedy drama follows the everyday grind of MI5 service rejects, AKA slow horses, who have been condemned to Slough House for messing up on the job - but not quite breaking any rules worthy of being fired.

One user took to the social media platform to write: “If Slow Horses aired on the BBC, it'd be the biggest show in the UK hands DOWN.”
Another commented, “Reminder that Slow Horses (on Apple TV+) continues to be absolutely bloody excellent and you should be addicted to it if you aren't already.” Whilst a third fan teased that the first episode is something to look forward to: “S04E01… Best TV episode. Ever... Gary Oldman is gold.
Slow Horses follows the misfits as they navigate the mundanities of everyday desk errands under the close eye of miserable, but brilliant, boss Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman). Somehow, the group winds up on the frontline, working overtime to stop plots that endanger Britain.
Apple TV+
Spoilers ahead: Last season, we learned that a group of operatives had infiltrated MI5 and season four picks up where we left off - and doesn't hold back.
Season four is based on Herron’s novel Spook Street, and follows the life of River Cartwright (Jack Lowden) and his grandfather David (Jonathan Pryce). The pair become the target of a new enemy, as David’s time as an agent means he likely holds some pretty valuable information.
In the season four trailer, a bomb goes off at a London shopping centre, and Jackson declares one of his team dead - but who? We'll have to wait to find out.
Apple TV+
It's not just Oldman that carries the show this season, as season four also stars the likes of small-screen heavyweights Kristin Scott Thomas, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Kadiff Kirwan, and Aimee-Ffion Edwards.
Where can I watch Slow Horses season four?
The first episode of Slow Horses season four is now available to watch on Apple TV+. The remaining episodes will drop each week until the finale on Wednesday October 2.
Don’t worry if you don’t have Apple TV+, you can sign up for a free seven-day trial on the website - plenty of time to binge it.Featured Image Credit: Apple TV+

Netflix fans have less than a week to watch chilling thriller with 94% on Rotten Tomatoes
This thriller is set to leave the streaming service soon

Ben Thompson

When it comes to movies on Netflix, it's very much a case of 'catch them while you can'.
Films often leave the streaming platform, giving fans with a finite amount of time to give them a watch.
Open Road Films
One Jake Gyllenhaal flick is set to make its departure this week - and going by its 94 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, it's well worth seeing before it's gone.
Gyllenhaal stars in the lead role as Lou Bloom, a shady guy involved in low-level criminal activities.
One day he witnesses a car accident on the motorway, and meets a cameraman played by Bill Paxton.
Lou is stunned to learn that this cameraman makes a living capturing crashes and crimes on tape to sell to the local news.
Wanting to cash in, Lou sets up 'Video Production News', and gets himself a camera from a pawn shop.
With the help of a police scanner, Lou manages to be the first on scene by learning police codes.

He's assisted in this by a homeless man called Rick, played by Riz Ahmed. As he rises in the 'industry', he resorts to more desperate means to keep the money rolling in.
Although the movie, called Nightcrawler, is not without its humorous moments, it's a dark thriller on the whole.
Critics have heaped praise on the film since it was released back in 2014.
One reviewer wrote: "A gritty urban comedy noir, a scathing, Network-worthy disembowelment of television newsgatherers that will leave you craving a shower."
Open Road Films
In this case, 'craving a shower' is a good thing.
Another critic gushed: "A mesmerizing cipher, Lou is a spiritual descendant of Robert De Niro's Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver, and of the withholding protagonists in the existential French crime films of Robert Bresson and Jean-Pierre Melville."
While someone else wrote: "A smart, engaged film powered by an altogether remarkable performance by Jake Gyllenhaal, it is melodrama grounded in a disturbing reality, an extreme scenario that is troubling because it cuts close to the bone."
Many reviews praised Nightcrawler for its dark edge, biting satire and overall entertainment value.
Gyllenhaal's performance was widely applauded, with a review in The Los Angeles Time deeming him 'remarkable'.
The Guardian's review even called it the 'best performance of his career'.
Given Gyllenhaal's long list of impressive films, that's quite an accomplishment.

Any Netflix fans looking for creepy thrills to cap off the end of spooky season ought to give Mirage a go.
The 2018 movie is available to stream on Netflix and audiences have been raving about it on Rotten Tomatoes ever since.

The Spanish film, named Durante la Tormenta in the director's native tongue, follows the story of two families living in the same house 25 years apart.
A terrible electrical storm appears in both 1989 and 2014, and through it protagonist Vera (Adriana Ugarte) realises she can speak to a boy who was killed in the past, warning him of the danger he is in.
However, by changing her past to save a life Vera accidentally ends up warping her present beyond recognition with her whole life changed.
Warner Bros
From there the film follows Vera as she tries to set things right and work out what will happen to the life she saved in the past.
The movie has been plenty popular among Netflix audiences who've called it a 'must watch' and tried to alert fellow viewers to a hidden gem lurking in the streaming service's massive catalogue of shows and films.
One viewer said they stuck the film on in an attempt to learn Spanish (don't worry, you can watch it in English too) and didn't expect much beyond a movie 'just to pass the time while eating' yet they ended up 'hooked'.
They said the film 'started off not so convincing but it gets good later' and ends with a great twist, so Mirage sounds like a movie that rewards you if you stick with it.
Netflix
Another viewer called it 'a brilliant movie with an amazingly designed plot' which 'surpasses your imagination' that also manages to end in an incredibly satisfying way.
They called it a 'marvellous piece of work' and a 'must watch for all generations', so it's safe to say that plenty really liked this movie.
It's got a 75 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes so you can be sure that most people who saw Mirage came away very happy with what they watched.
"Overall verdict: 9/10," a third film fan wrote of Mirage, saying they were already a fan of time travel movies and that the movie's concept really appealed to them once they saw it.
Praising Mirage as it 'keeps suspense going', they recommended that Netflix viewers 'go with the flow' and let the film's mystery carry them along.

Netflix fans praise BBC crime drama with 100% Rotten Tomatoes score and an 'ending like no other'
The series has been acclaimed by critics and fans alike

Joshua Nair

If you're like me and you feel like you've run out of edge-of-your-seat series' to watch, don't worry, there's one that you may have missed.
This BBC crime-drama will have your full attention from start to end, and even boasts a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.
BBC
The four-part series first aired on BBC One in 2021, and was made available internationally on streaming platform Netflix in 2022 for the whole world to enjoy.
Despite it only being four hours long, its storytelling has been praised by viewers, thanks in part to director Sarmad Masud, who adapted the story from the 2017 novel of the same name.
It stars Samuel Adewunmi, Australian actress Sophie Wilde, Roger Nsengiyumva, and 2021 BAFTA rising star winner, Bukky Bakray.
Camden-born Adewunmi was nominated for a BAFTA and a MOBO Award for his performance in this series as the lead character, further highlighting the quality of the series.
It's called You Don't Know Me, and you can watch the trailer here:

0 seconds of 44 secondsVolume 90%
The series follows Hero (Adewunmi) as he is accused of murder and chooses to tell his side of the story in court on his own after sacking his barrister.
It seems as though the evidence is stacked against him, but he begins to tell his extraordinary and shocking story about the woman he loves (Wilde), and how she got herself into trouble.
In a story of love, risk, crime and drama, Hero promises his innocence but it's ultimately up to viewers if they believe him or not.
A perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes backs up all of the hype generated by fans, and makes the gripping limited series worth watching.
Unfortunately, like many other British series, it doesn't look like there will be a second season or part to the story.
No news of one has been announced in the years since, but perhaps it wouldn't make sense with the way the story is structured, despite fans' desires for more.
BBC
Viewers of the show have raved about it since its release, with many urging others to watch it on X, formerly Twitter.
One user commented: "'You Don't Know Me' on #Netflix is a very interesting series. It explains a lot in reality.
"People do stupid, inexplicable things when they're in love."
Another put: "You definitely can’t predict the end."
A third said: "I'm really liking this 'You Don't Know Me' series, BBC doing better series than Netflix"
A different user posted: "Just binged ‘You don’t know me’ on Netflix, best series I’ve seen in a while".
